NATURE JOURNAL ON THE "EARTH" 2007 DOCUMENTARY

In this project we are given a task to watch and observe the "Earth" documentary and to make our own nature journal about the documentary. The documentary is very exciting and interesting and it helped me realize that our earth is dying and we need to do something to protect it.

This project helped me to recognize and learn more about the plants, the animals and even the natural phenomena on earth. Other than that, it also helped me to sharpen my drawing skills and pick up new skills such as water colouring.

PROJECT 1(B)

MINIATURE SHELTER

In this project we are required to form a group of 8 people and to propose a shelter idea for a cartoon character given. The character that my group has been assigned to is the character Mayor Lionheart from the movie - Zootopia. We need to consider the character's personality and nature in order to build the perfect shelter for it.

We need to choose the perfect habitat for our character in the area Janda Baik, we have chosen 2 suitable areas for our character and the characteristics are almost the same. The criteria for the habitat of Mayor Lionheart is it must be near a water source and a lot of grass surrounding it.

Our team has been given lego blocks to construct our character's shelter. Other than that, we also need to come up with presentation boards to present our shelter more clearly and to explain the criteria of our character's habitat even deeper.

In a nutshell, this project has helped me realize the importance of teamwork as this is the first group project of our semester. This group project also let me know about the natural habitats of animals and the criteria for certain animals to live in that certain habitat.

MY "X" HOMETOWN INFOGRAPHIC PAMPHLET

This project requires us to introduce our hometown in an infographic manner, which means that there will be a lot of pictures to help explain about my hometown. "X" means that you can put anything to best describe your hometown, I chose "My Tasty Hometown" because my hometown is famous for a variety of good foods and all of them is delicious. My pamphlet consists of 8 pages including the front and back page.

I have put in famous landmarks in my hometown, Kota Kinabalu and also talked briefly about the history of Kota Kinabalu. Besides that, i also intrduced the connectivity from my hometown to other famous places such as Pulau Gaya and Mount Kinabalu.

After that, i zoomed in into an area to explain in detail. I have chosen the Damai area where I am the most familiar with. The zoning and the culture inside the specific area was also explained in detail in the pamphlet. Other than that, the activities and the circulation was also included to let the reader know more about the specific area.

This project has reminded me my times in Sabah, Kota Kinabalu and let me to newly know about this wonderful place all over again. Knowing about the origin and history of my hometown is fascinating and made me value more about my precious hometown.

PROJECT 2(B)

SITE STUDY AND STREET INTERVENTION

Project 2(B) was our final project for this course. In this project we were assigned to 6 people in a group to do a site study about a street and a street intervention to make the street better. The street that our group needs to do a site study on is Jalan Hang Lekiu, Masjid Jamek, Kuala Lumpur. We were to compose all the information about our site study and the street intervention in between 4-6 presentation boards.

We went to visit the site that we were supposed to do the site study on to fully experience the street and to observe the activities happening on that street. After that, we gathered information on the internet about the history of the street and the building typology of the buildings on the street. We then later discussed in a group about the SWOT of our street and the street intervention.

We came up with an idea to build a homeless shelter on the void in our street to give shelter to the homeless people as there are a lot of homeless people on our street which is one of the reasons the street is less visited and slowly "dying".

In the process of doing the final project for this course, my groupmates and I learnt how to do a site study and I think that doing a site study can really help you to know the site that you are working on or even before building a building on the site, that is why doing a good site study is a very important skill to pick up and master it. Coming up with the street intervention has also challenged us to use our creativity and our imagination, which is also 2 important skills to learn. Overall, this project has taught me a lot of new skills and knowledges.
